Coalcliff SLSC’s Ocean Swim Club returns for its 3rd season for summer 2024/25!
The Coalcliff Ocean Swim Club proudly sponsored by Equilibrium Healthcare will run its first swim on Sunday 13 October
A community-focused ocean swim club
The swim club is focused on participation rather than competition and provides community members with the opportunity to practice their ocean swimming skills with water safety provided by Coalcliff SLSC during the patrolling season (October to April).
It’s also a great way to connect with others in the community in a friendly, supportive environment. The swim club is open to anyone over 16 years of age who can swim confidently.
Sponsored by Equilibrium Healthcare
In supporting the Coalcliff Ocean Swim Club, Equilibrium Healthcare aims to promote and contribute to the development of healthy lifestyles in the community.
Coalcliff SLSC and Equilibrium Healthcare share this core value of supporting people to participate in healthy activities connected to the ocean.
We’re also working with Equilibrium Healthcare and Helensburgh-Stanwell Park SLSC on some other exciting swim ideas so stay tuned!
What’s on this season
This season, we will be running monthly swims focused on helping members improve their ocean swimming skills around a regular course at Coalcliff Beach.
The sessions will include practice getting in and out through the surf break, ocean swimming techniques and finding a pace and rhythm that suits you, to build your confidence as an ocean swimmer.

· Sunday 13 October
· Sunday 10 November
· Sunday 8 December
· Sunday 16 February

Membership and cost
Anyone wishing to join the ocean swim club will need to become an associate member of Coalcliff SLSC (links are below) and must have completed the forms prior to their first swim.
· The membership fee for the season is $50
· All Coalcliff SLSC patrolling members can join at no cost.

The course
The course will be selected on the day, dependent on the weather and conditions.
The plan is to have a triangular course around 3 buoys of approximately 500 metres that can be swum one or several times.
Water safety
Coalcliff SLSC will provide surf lifesaving support to swimmers with a combination of watercraft including jetski and IRB and patrollers on rescue boards as well as patrol members in the water with rescue tubes (great for a rest stop!).

What to wear
Swimmers may wear whatever swimming gear they are comfortable in. Wetsuits and fins are fine.
All swim club members will be issued with a club swim cap for visibility in the water.
Swimmers are recommended to wear a pink rash vest (singlet-style) that can be purchased from the club.
