Coalcliff Surf Club is saddened today by the passing of Rose Thompson. Rose was the partner of the late Rod Stevens and mother of Toni and Leo Stevens. Rose fought a long  and courageous battle against an illness that had robbed her of her physical capacity. Rose was a fine swimmer who had medalled at the State Masters Surf Life Saving Championships. Rose loved her body boarding and was often seen surfing Coalcliff and Stanwell Park with Rod, Leo and Toni. Rose and Rod were a wonderful and devoted couple who together raised two outstanding children in Toni and Leo. Rose is free now of her illness and her spirit will be felt in many places especially out the back of the break at Coalcliff on an offshore day with a three foot surf running. Our thoughts today are with Toni and Leo and we pass on our condolences and love.
