Bronze Medallion

It's getting around the time to kick off training for the Bronze Medallion this season. Any one interested in doing their Bronze Medallion should register their interest with the club over the next two weeks. This Sunday the 22nd November during Nippers would be ideal.
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a Surf Lifesaver in Australia.
It's open to all and great to have surf awareness and resuscitation skills for outside of club life too.
Non club members can join the club for $45 and will be required to purchase a safety pink rashie for $20. All students are encouraged to purchase the training manual "Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue 34th Edition" which can be used as a reference manual thereafter for $35 .
The training is likely to take place over 8-10 sessions with a mix of mid week (theory) and/or weekend sessions (practical) depending on dates/times that suits the group best.
Pre-requisites are:
- be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment (around Mar 2016)
- complete a 400m swim in 9minutes or less in a pool or open water
- and be willing to do patrols once the award is received
Further course content can be found at this SLSA document.
Please also pass this message onto anyone who may be interested.
