The Rod Stevens Memorial Beach to Bridge Paddle is coming up on Sunday February the 5th, 11am. All club members including stronger nippers are welcome to enter. Entry is $20 with funds raised donated to the Cancer Council. Rod Stevens was a fine waterman and an outstanding surf life saver on Coalcliff Beach. Rod died far too young from Melanoma. The paddle is an annual event staged to honour his memory. The paddle takes competitors form Coalcliff beach to the Southern end of Seacliff Bridge and back. Competitors must paddle rescue boards. Non competitors can paddle surf boards and wave skis. The paddle is the third leg in the Coalcliff Triple Crown.
Defending Champions are Richard Leghissa and Toni Stevens ( Rod's daughter ). Runner Up for the last two years has been Leo Stevens and he is determined to win the title this year as a tribute to his father. Rod.
